The Permaculture area at the Leeds Unity Day event completes the model of how we would like the Rik Clay Foundation to develop - its goes something like this.
Creative people did something that raised the money (in this instance Clayfest, a gig) - in the best way they knew how, - the money was kept for safe keeping at RCF - a few months later people had the idea for the permaculture area in the same locality - which fits the criteria for community building, resources sharing, sustainability etc and battled with funding organisations and forms etc without much success, so the money was offered to the group after a short explanation of their intentions and costs and donated on trust - no forms to fill out or anything long winded that distracts them from what they want to do. With the funds staying local the people who raised the money get to see first hand where it has been spent. Keeping things simple means money raised is not spent on admin, marketing or staffing costs like most of the large charities and also means we can respond quickly if we have money available.
Anyone who would like to raise funds for the RCF please get in touch.
